Music Teacher

A Musical Journey: 29 Years of Inspiring Young Minds

After 29 years in the classroom, our music teacher, Mrs. Bone, brings with her a wealth of experience, passion, and a heart full of love for teaching. For 28 of those years, she inspired students in the Victoria and Austin ISDs, guiding them through the magical world of music. After taking a well-deserved six-year break during retirement, she made a decision that would not only change her life but also enrich the Trinity community—she joined the Trinity team and hasn’t looked back since. She describes it as “the best decision” she’s ever made.

Her return to teaching has been invigorated by the students she works with daily. She says the children at Trinity inspire her to be the very best educator she can be. Their endless questions, excitement, and curiosity challenge her to stay sharp, and the joy they bring into her classroom is contagious. “They keep me on my toes,” she says with a smile, “and they bring me great joy.”

In addition to the students, one of the most cherished aspects of her time at Trinity has been the school’s deep commitment to faith. Chapel, she explains, is her absolute favorite tradition at the school, where students and staff come together for worship, reflection, and celebration. “I love everything about it,” she says, emphasizing the way chapel fosters a strong sense of community and shared purpose. She appreciates the opportunity to experience these moments of worship with her students, where chapel serves as a special reminder of the school’s values and the guiding principles of faith. It’s this sense of spiritual connection that adds a special layer of meaning to her role as a music teacher, allowing her to blend her love of music with a commitment to nurturing the whole child—mind, body, and spirit.

Outside of the classroom, she enjoys spending time with her family. Traveling with her daughter, visiting her sons, and playing with her beloved dog, Houston, are some of her favorite ways to relax. She’s also an avid cross-stitcher, enjoys yard work, and takes pride in a well-kept garden. But no matter what she’s doing, one thing remains constant: she’s always singing. Her love for music is a constant thread in her life, and she says she absolutely loves sharing that joy with everyone around her.

Her journey from retirement back to the classroom is a testament to her enduring love for teaching and the joy she finds in helping young minds discover the power of music. At Trinity, she’s found not only a school but a community, where her passion for music and her faith combine to create a fulfilling and joyful career.
