Nurturing Faith and Leadership: Mrs. Koehler Brings Heart and Experience to Sacred Studies at TES

At Trinity Episcopal School (TES), teachers are more than just educators—they are mentors, guides, and community builders. One such teacher who embodies these qualities is Mrs. Koehler, who has been shaping the spiritual lives of students in Sacred Studies for the past four years. With over a decade of experience in youth ministry, her passion for both education and spiritual guidance shines through in everything she does.

For her, teaching at TES is not just about imparting knowledge; it’s about fostering a community where faith, learning, and leadership go hand-in-hand. “What inspires me most as an educator is being present with students as they discover more about who they are as children of God,” she says. Her classroom is a place where students are encouraged to explore their identities, their faith, and how they can live those values out in the world.

One of the traditions closest to her heart is Chapel Buddies, a program where older students are paired with younger ones to build mentorship and leadership skills. “I love watching the students learn leadership skills while fostering relationships with younger students,” she explains. “The students truly love each other!” It’s in these moments that the depth of the TES community becomes evident. Chapel Buddies represents the school’s broader vision of nurturing not only intellectual growth but also moral and emotional development.

Reflecting on what it means to be a Patriot, she explains, “Being a Patriot is about engaging in a sacred community of hardworking, loving, and joyful learners.” For her, this spirit of dedication and love is something she strives to cultivate every day in her classroom.

Outside of teaching, Mrs. Koehler enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and exploring nature. Gardening is one of her favorite hobbies, and she finds peace in nurturing plants just as she does with her students. She also loves listening to podcasts that challenge her thinking and deepen her understanding of the world. Family road trips are a particular joy, providing her with cherished memories and a chance to unwind and reconnect.

In both her professional and personal life, Mrs. Koehler embodies the values that make TES a special place. Her dedication to her students, her faith, and her family is evident in every aspect of her work. Whether she is teaching Sacred Studies or mentoring through Chapel Buddies, her goal is always the same: to help students grow into thoughtful, caring, and spiritually grounded individuals.

As TES continues to foster a community built on faith and learning, teachers like Mrs. Koehler are at the heart of that mission—guiding students not only in their academic pursuits but also in their personal and spiritual journeys.
